This is a very rare antique 1900 – 1914 French car dealers badge (Jarrot Besancon) with Saint Christopher pictured on it. The brass plate measures 80 x 30 x 2 mm and the text reads ‘Georges Jarrot 47, Rue de Belfort, Bésancon Doubs’. The badge was cast of brass and then nickel plated. The dealers name was hand engraved and then filled with black paint. The plaque / badge shows signs of surface wear, the nickel has worn on the high and sharper edges.
This dealer St. Christophers badge will be a magnificent addition to your veteran French motorcar. The badge features two 4 mm mounting holes at 72 mm distance to mount it to the wood dashboard.
Saint Christopher is widely recognized as the patron saint of travelers and drivers. Saint Christopher is displayed in thousands of cars and trucks (on badges, brooches, key rings) as the drivers feel a lot safer on the road with the protection from this Saint. A lucky charm!
