Here we have a gorgeous and ultra rare MEYER portable lantern with flashing warning lamp in EXCELLENT vintage original condition! These multifunctional lanterns were typical motor car accessories of the 1950s and 1960s and today almost impossible to find in collectible condition! The markings on the lamp read Meyer Trade Mark Roeco Hamburg. We believe that these lamps were not German manufactured but that these were made in Hong Kong which was then a British colony (Empire Made) or in the Peoples Republic of China (PRC). In any case the lamp is beautifully made of sheet metal. The housing plated yellow gold and other parts chrome plated. The lantern features a hinge to hang or to carry the unit, it features a four position switch (Top – Top & Front – Front – Off) and it is powered by a 6V universal block battery (included).
This lantern is very beautiful with only the slightest signs of use. The lantern measures in centimetres: 16 high (20 with hinge up), 9 wide and 13 deep. It weighs 270 grammes and 785 grammes complete with the lead battery. This fantastic and super rare accessory will be a splendid boot / trunk accessory for any classic car of the 1950s and 1960s! “Enjoy the ride!”
