Here you will find our range of top-quality, fully refurbished and serviced, Blaupunkt vintage original auto radios of the period 1962 – 1974. All the presented Blaupunkt radios are in excellent vintage original condition and they come with 18 months (1.5 years) warranty. Auto radios were very expensive luxury items in the 1950s, 1960s and the 1970s. Blaupunkt radios were rated amongst the very best. In 1969 Blaupunkt was the first to introduce a stereo auto radio; The Frankfurt stereo.

Until about 1974 European cars featured the old style auto radio dashboard aperture which comprised of two 11 mm holes for the knob-axles (130 mm apart horizontally), with an angular aperture between them for the protruding front of the radio unit. Radios were mounted from the rear of the dashboard and the fit and finish (fastening-nuts, face-plate and knobs) were placed flush at the front of the dashboard panel. All the presented 1962 – 1974 radios will fit in the old style radio dashboard aperture.

In the late 1960s the first cars appeared with a larger 1-DIN dashboard aperture which became the industry standard around 1974. If your classic car features the large square 1-DIN radio aperture (MG MGA / MGB, Mercedes-Benz from 1968 and others) you will need to choose a radio with a large face-plate. Also a special 1-DIN radio mounting bracket is needed then.
